Samgyeopsal

Do you like meat? I do. Though I don't like the way some people breed livestock in order to get as much meat as possible, I have to admit I can't give up the taste of meat. What you see on the picture is one of Korean's best loved meat, 'Samgyeopsal', which means rich marbled belly part of pork. We usually roast kimchi, mushroom, onions, garlic too on the pan. Compared to beef, pork is crispy and cheaper here in Korea.

* I came home late being a bit drunk from a couple of pints of beer over a football match against Syria for regional final qualifications for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. So, I hope you to please understand that I can't reply to yesterday's comments you put.

My daughter was a vegetarian for over 10 years. Only recently she gave this up and joined the ranks of meat lovers. Actually I was concerned and consulted our family doctor when my daughter chose to become a vegetarian. Our doctor suggested I follow my daughter's lead to a heather life style ... In the US pork is advertised as the other white meat ... We mostly eat chicken. Then maybe two meals a week from beef and one meal a week from pork ... Get some rest.

When we lived in Yokohama, Japan, we were within walking distance of 3 Korean BBQ restaurants, all with very different focus, the nearest 4 minutes away. We went to one at least once a week. That is one thing we miss so terribly in New Zealand.

I loved the one with raw (??) mince meat with raw egg in the middle. Yuuuuummmmm...

Meat eating, football lover. Except that it's a different football, you'd make a great "bubba" in the U.S.

samgyeopsal... drool... I used to love roasting my kimchi which koreans don't seem to do so much. Headin to dublin at the end of the month for my fix of galbi. Found a great restaurant that has some "chincha mashseyo" food.

Anonymous - Thank you for your visit, though.:)

Dalicia - Thanks for your comment.

Denton - Great to read about your daughter. I think I eat more pork than chicken. in Korea, Beef is more expensive than pork.

Meg - The latter one you liked is called 'Yukhwe(肉膾)', beef sashimi. Besides raw egg, it also has sesame oil and grinded pear. I like it too.

Steve - Hahaha, you're right. I'm not a fan of American football.

Eliane - We won by 1-0 so maintained the top position in the group.

BW - You know I don't mean to make you hungry!;)

TP - I had to look up wagyu in a dictionary and finally found to what it is mostly similar here. It's really really expensive part of beef and I just eat a couple of times a year.

Neva - Happy to hear you like Korean food. Like you, most of people don't take to Kimchi when they first try, but with patience, they become a fan of Kimchi. Fortunately, I didn't have a hangover. Thanks!

Leber - I think that lots of Korean like to roast kimchi especially when they have samgyeopsal. Your Korean is still great!!
