No Car Day

It is "No Car Day" in Seoul today. Though the worldwide one is the 22nd of September, because it is the first day of Full Moon Harvest holidays here this year, Seoul city had decided to advance the date to today. This campaign was conducted in Jongno and also a much smaller area in Apgujeong from 4h to 18h00. Except bus, all the vehicles were not allowed to enter the road and both sides of the road were available for people to walk.

I don't use car if not necessary but I'm not to forbid cars' circulation in cities and elsewhere. Cars may be noisy and help pollution and we have to work on them to prevent noise and pollution but cars grant freedom, movement, to visit, to travel, to meet...

Neva - The record says we already had 14 million cars with 13 million households in 2003. I am honoured that you added my blog to your page. I appreciate it a lot.

Eric - Neither do I.

Fénix - I understand what you think about cars, but I have to say having a car can be quite convenient sometimes. I just wish, when I have my own car, to still like walking and using public transportation.

Dalicia - Lucky you!

KMF - It was nice to walk on the road.

Fabrizio - Right, having a car can bring some good things too. We just need to use it in a better way or simply use it less.

That is a neat concept. That would work quite well in areras that have a good public transportation infrastructure.

Interesting banner.

Well, if busses and subways are still running, we're in a perfect world. I would love for NYC to organize something like this. They'd probably have to pick a Sunday... ;)

BW - I think we have good transportation system and the thing I think that need to be improved is the working people's services and attitudes, in particular bus and taxi drivers. Some of them drive too wild and very unkind.

Eliane - Some people here too complained that the city picked up Monday.

TP - It would be great to have this kind of day even once a year.
