Seat To Be Yielded

In Korean metro, on each side of a carriage are there seats for the disabled, senior citizens and pregnant women. Though you can take the seat while it is not taken, you are advised to yield it to those people who do need to be seated on the metro. And I found an additional sticker below which aimed at emphasis on caring for pregnant women who are bearing a life and love.

Most of the signs for disabled passengers here are designated for the elderly and disabled, but the idea of adding pregnant women is a great idea, considering how crowded the metro or bus can get during rush hour.

Oh, I didn't know that this kind of official caring for pregrant women is less common in other countries. I think this idea is supported partially due to one of the lowest birthrates in the world.

Something I was very surprised here is how people leave their seats for kids. I mean, where I come from, the mon would sit and take the kid on her lap. Here, moms stand while their kids sit comfortably as little princes and princesses. I find that very amusing.

drNO - It truly is!

Eliane - I heard from an American friend of mine that the US is THE paradise for children. She's got married to a German guy and lived in Aachen for a couple of years. But, she'd once said she would have liked to moved to the States when she has a baby because many European countries have less regard for children in public space than the US. Do you agree with her?
